Codes & Keys

Death Cab for Cutie‘s new album, Codes and Keys, comes out tomorrow. It is streaming in full at NPR and it sounds flat-out amazing. This past Friday, the boys were featured on VH1 Storytellers and thanks to the magic of the internet, I was able to view it in clips via YouTube. (We don’t get VH1 and you can’t stream it from Canada. I’m not linking to their site because this is balls.) You know who would be great on Storytellers? Andrew W.K. I bet that guy has some stories!

Don’t Let Them See You Cry

A good friend of mine during my highly influential teen years was a big-time Depeche Mode fan. He was nearly a decade older than I was and had been around for their rise to awesomeness. Through him, I grew to love them as well. The boys will be releasing a new remix album titled, Remixes 2: 81-11, on June 6th and it will be available as a single-disc, triple-disc, and 6-LP set. It features remixes by M83, UNKLE, Dan the Automator, and Röyksopp amongst others. They’ve put together a very “Depeche Mode”-looking video for “Personal Jesus” remixed by Norwegian duo Stargate and it’s definitely up to snuff.

Copenhagen/Brooklyn’s Alcoholic Faith Mission have been the darlings of many a festival over the last few years. Here’s their vid for “Legacy” which is probably the sweetest video about death involving a mouse you have seen.

And if you’re not one of the nearly 1 million people who have seen this, Vegan Black Metal Chef is pretty hilarious.
