Christopher Lee, a.k.a Saruman, is among the holiest of actors in nerd culture, not only having done LOTR, but he’s also been in Star Wars, played Fu Manchu, and worked with Tim Burton on numerous occasions. So really, is it surprising at all that he has done vocals for a metal concept album titled, “Charlemagne”, which gets released on Monday? No, seriously.

Check out Twin Sister out of Brooklyn. They’re a band I’ve been digging of late and you can download their EP, “Vampires with Dreaming Kids”, from their website. They’re on tour, though nowhere near me. Maybe near you, though.
Many people only know Dan Deacon because of the effervescent “Drinking Out of Cups“, but he’s actually a musician out of Baltimore. Keeping up with his reputation for ,”what-the-hell-IS-this???”, is this video for “Woof Woof”. Tiger costume, dog bassist, puppets, and dander! Oh, you…
The Very Best have been on my radar for a while now and “Warm Heart of Africa” just doesn’t seem to ever get any less catchy. Here’s a video with Ezra Koenig from Vampire Weekend since, you know, he does some of the vocal track and all. They’re playing in Vancouver at the Biltmore on May 28th if you want to get down, live-like.
Sondre Lerche‘s video for “If Only” is pretty whimsical and utilizes a lot of crochet-work. But I spy some nipples behind that chain mail! Risqué! I have to say though, I enjoyed him more when he was a cute, remarkably talented musician from Norway, rather than a cute, remarkably talented musician from Norway living in Brooklyn. If you can catch him live, do it. His voice is even more amazing live and his banter will have even the manliest of men swooning. I seen it!
